Full of Blasphemous Names
The earlier presentations on the blog have revealed a considerable amount of evidence that the “MOTHER OF PROSTITUTES AND THE ABOMINATION OF THE EARTH (Revelation 17:5)” points to the Roman Catholic Church’s elevation of Mary as Queen of Heaven. The symbolism of adultery and promiscuity in Revelation 17 is used to show the fall into spiritual apostasy by the Roman Church.
The logical assumption, then is that the Antichrist will be the Pope, who will partner with the Great Whore of Revelation to bring about a one-world religion. An extremely revealing verse in Revelation describes the “Mother of Prostitutes” riding the beast (the Antichrist) and that the beast is covered in profane names: “There I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was covered with blasphemous names (Revelation 17:3) …”
To confirm that the Antichrist will be a future Pope of the Roman Catholic Church, a study of the titles and powers of the Pope needs to be made. No other political or religious position in the world today holds so much evidence that matches the biblical prophecies detailing the Antichrist as the Pope. The Pope holds blasphemous titles such as Vicar of Christ, Holy Father and Pontifex Maximus, plus he holds unscriptural authority such as temporal power, apostolic succession, and Papal infallibility.
The Reformation fathers recognised that the titles, power and authority of the Pope made the position ideal for the future Antichrist. However, through careful conditioning and manipulation on the part of the Roman Catholic Church, most modern Protestant churches today are blind to the deceit of the Roman Catholic Church and the unrighteous power the Pope is able to wield. These churches are falling for the message of brotherly love that is put forward by the wolf in sheep’s clothing. Churches are to put aside their differences and focus on the unifying force of love, the new liberal church will tolerate everything except intolerance.
Before studying the various titles and powers claimed by the Pope, it is important to understand that claims such as “temporal power” and titles such as “Vicar of Christ” have their roots in a document titled The Donation of Constantine. An explanation of this document is therefore required.
The Donation of Constantine:
The Donation of Constantine is an 8th Century forgery, supposedly written by the Roman Emperor Constantine I. According to the document, Constantine was cured of leprosy by Sylvester, the Bishop of Rome at that time. In gratitude, Constantine elevated Sylvester over all Christian Bishops and bequeathed vast territories of the Roman Empire to the Vatican. The document was used by the Roman Catholic Church to make legitimate the claim of the Pope as Bishop of Bishops, and enforce the temporal power of the Vatican over the territory of the Roman Empire. The Donation of Constantine gives authority to the Roman Catholic Church to claim not only clerical supremacy over all Christianity but to also make the Pope an Emperor over the territories claimed by the document.
The Donation of Constantine was proved to be fraudulent by Lorenzo Valla in 1439, when he gave evidence of historical flaws that revealed the document to have been written centuries after the death of Constantine in AD 337. Ten Popes used The Donation of Constantine to back their claims to religious and political authority, and for the last 600 years since the document was exposed as a forgery, the Roman Catholic Church has remained steadfast in its refusal to acknowledge this.
Titles and powers claimed by the Pope give ample evidence to the idea that the Antichrist will assume the position of Pope, fulfilling the prophecies of the beast “that was covered with blasphemous names.”
The title Pontifex Maximusor Supreme Pontiff was used by Roman emperors from 63 BC. The Romans had conquered most of the known world and had absorbed their pagan religions into the Roman pantheon of gods. The emperor was, therefore, the political ruler and religious leader of the Roman world, the Pontiff Maximus – the bridge-maker between the Roman people and the gods of the Roman pantheon. This placed the emperor in a very powerful position as he was seen as the bridge between this life and the next. In AD 378 the Christian Roman emperor Gratian refused the title as this would make him emperor and high priest, a messianic title. The title was then taken up by Damasus, the Bishop of Rome at the time, therefore making the Pope, as Pontiff, the heir to the deified pontifical emperors of pagan Rome.
The Christians of that era looked at the Bishop of Rome as the head bishop of the church. So, the Bishop of bishops claimed the title of Pontifex Maximus, a convenient but pagan title. The Pope is a political leader as head of the Vatican, and a religious leader as head of the Roman Catholic Church. The Pope, as Pontifex Maximus, is considered by the Roman Catholic Church not only to be their “high priest” but also the high priest over all of Christianity. Through the Papal claim of temporal power, he is also considered to be a king, which makes the Pope the ideal position for Satan’s counterfeit messiah – the Antichrist.
King and High Priest:
Jesus as the Messiah is our King and High priest under the order of Melchizedek (Hebrews 5:10). Melchizedek was the King and High Priest of Jerusalem during the time of Abraham (Genesis 14:18). Because the Messiah was going to hold the dual position of King and High Priest, no Jewish king was allowed to take part in any priestly duties. Uzziah, king of Judah, learned this lesson at great cost. He was stuck with leprosy by God when, because of his pride, he entered the Temple and attempted to burn incense at the altar of incense.
Satan, in his attempt to usurp the authority of God, is going to present his counterfeit messiah as a king and high priest. No other religious leader makes the claim to be the high priest of their faith and ruler over territories as the Pope does. The Pope receives a tiara on his coronation, which is a triple crown, having three levels. This coronation gives the Pope divine right over the world as Jesus Christ on earth. The Pope, on being crowned, becomes a king and high priest, and is seen as the “Vicar of Christ,” the replacement for Jesus on earth, the ideal position for the future Antichrist.
The significance of the papal crown is that it is firstly a triple crown – the Pope is considered the Trinity on earth by the Roman Church. Secondly, it underlines his temporal authority as king over the earth, the Pope is a counterfeit messiah. Not only does Roman Catholicism claim the authority of king and high priest for the Pope, they also claim that “All names which in scripture are applied to Christ, by virtue of which it is established that he is over the church, all the same names are applied to the Pope” (on the Authority of the Councils,” book 2, chapter 17).
Vicar of Christ:
The term antichrist literally means in place of Christ. The Antichrist is more than, as some would suggest, “anti” or against Christ, the Antichrist also seeks to replace Jesus. The Antichrist is Satan’s counterfeit messiah, who Satan will empower in an attempt to bring all mankind into rebellion against God. It is no coincidence, then, that the Pope is referred to as the “Vicar of Christ.” Vicar means substituting for, or to assume the position of. This is the ideal title for the Antichrist who seeks to replace Jesus.
The evolution of the title “Vicar of Christ” – “Vicarious Christus” was generated by pride, with the Bishops of Rome always considering themselves to be superior to other churches. The early Bishops of Rome claimed to be the successors of the emperor, giving themselves the title “Vicar of Caesar.” In the 5th Century Pope Innocent I (401-417) announced that as the Bishop of Rome was the successor to the apostle Peter, he was the “The vicar of the prince of the Apostles,” and thus he laid claim to superiority over all other Bishops.
Next came the declaration that claimed the title of “universal Pope,” which was made by Boniface III who became Pope in AD 607 and in doing so, confirmed the authority of the Bishop of Rome to a position of superiority over all church leaders. The claim of the Roman Catholic Church is that, “The Pope is of so great dignity and so exalted that he is not mere man, but as it were god, and the vicar of God” (Ferraris’ Ecclesiastical Dictionary).
Then came the 8th-Century forgery The Donations of Constantine, which cemented the claim to complete authority of the Bishop of Rome by using the title “Vicar of the Son of God” for the Bishop of Rome. Since the 8th Century the Pope of Rome has been referred to as the “Vicar of Christ” and according to the Roman Catholic code of Canon Law he “is able to recognise no authority other than his own. He looks upon himself as master of all, and boldly proclaims, ‘The First See is judged by no one.'” Not only does the title the “Vicar of Christ” given to the Pope make him superior to all mankind, but it also means that the Pope assumes the position of Jesus.
Catechism 882 states, “For the Roman Pontiff, by reason of his office as Vicar of Christ, and as pastor of the entire Church has full, supreme, and universal power over the whole Church, a power which he can always exercise unhindered.” Catechism 891 goes on to further explain that the Pope acts “as supreme pastor and teacher of all the faithful…” No other religious title’s definition so matches the prophetic description for the Antichrist than that of the “Vicar of Christ.”
The claim by the Roman Catholic Church that a sinful man is the substitute for Jesus on earth, and that he as the Pope is responsible for all man’s spiritual and pastoral care is appalling. Jesus promised the disciples that after His resurrection they would have something better than God with them, they would have God in them, the Holy Spirit. In John 14:26 Jesus speaks of the promise of the Holy Spirit to the disciples saying “the Counsellor, the Holy Spirit… will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.”
Jesus explains that it is the Holy Spirit Who “will guide you in all truth” (John 16:13). For the Pope to claim to be the “Vicar of Christ” is blasphemous, as this is taking the place of the Holy Spirit, the true “Vicar of Christ” who fulfils the main role of this title by Glorifying Jesus through His work within the Church, “He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you (John 16:14).”
The apostle Paul, in Romans 8:15, gives one of the most wonderful revelations in scripture – that we, on accepting the Lord Jesus as Lord and Saviour, become the sons and daughters of the living God: “For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship (adoption). And by Him we cry, ‘Abba, Father (emphasis added).'”
At the moment of our salvation, we fall under the divine protection and Love of our heavenly Father. It is for this reason that Jesus instructed believers not to call any man “father” in the spiritual sense: “Do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven (Matthew 23:9).” God alone is our “Holy Father,” and for a man to usurp his title is to attempt to claim the role of divine protector and to steal the adoration befitting the title for himself. No man is able to replace the divine perfection that is our Holy Father, the Lord God Almighty.
For the Pope to claim the title of “holy father” is, therefore, blasphemous for three reasons:
- As was stated above, we are instructed by Jesus to “not call anyone ‘father,’ for you have one Father and He is in heaven (Matthew 23:9).” Yet the Pope calls himself not only “father” but moreover “The Holy Father” with a definite article. He therefore is defiantly placing himself in the place of God the father.
- God alone is Holy, “Who will not fear you, O Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy (Revelation 15:4).”
- The Pope, by taking the title “The Holy Father,” is claiming the honour befitting that title for himself, which then takes the glory away from God, “I am the Lord; that is my name! I will not give my glory to another (Isaiah 42:8).”
Bishop of bishops:
As the Bishop of Rome, the Pope claims to hold authority over all churches. He is called Bishop of bishops, the Universal Bishop of the Church, which places him above all mankind, a king over kings, subordinate to nobody.
The dogma of Papal infallibility was declared in the year 1870 by Pope Pius IX. This means that “The Supreme Pontiff, by virtue of his office, possesses infallible teaching authority when, as supreme pastor and teacher of all the faithful… he proclaims with a definitive act that a doctrine of faith or morals is to be held as such (Canon 749).”
Papal infallibility may only have become dogma in 1870, but the Roman Catholic Church holds on to a belief in “Semper idem” (“always the same”), which means that the declaration of being infallible by Pope Pius IX extends back to the first Pope, and therefore has always been a doctrine of the Roman Catholic Church. When the Pope makes a proclamation regarding faith or morals it is to be seen as authoritative as scripture, which is made clear in Catechism 82: “As a result the Church, to whom the transmission and interpretation of Revelation are entrusted, does not derive her certainty about all revealed truths from the holy Scriptures alone. Both Scripture and Tradition must be accepted and honoured with equal sentiments of devotion and reverence (emphasis added).”
Ironically, this power given to the Pope to nullify scripture through papal decrees is seen by Roman Catholics as fulfilling the role of the apostle Peter in his task “to keep the Church together in unity and defend the message of Christ against wrong teachings” (Hirmer, Oswald, Our Joy in being Catholic. Mariannhill Mission Press, 2007).
The Pope, then, has the power when speaking “ex-cathedra” (from the seat of authority of the Pope as the divine head of the Roman Catholic Church), to be able to bring in doctrine and tradition that contradict scripture, but are to be considered equal with scripture.
When the Pope speaks “ex-cathedra” he is seen to be speaking with the voice of God, and therefore this requires that all Roman Catholics must submit to the traditions of the Roman Catholic Church, even when these traditions are manmade and have no basis in scripture. The Roman Catholic Church requires that all mankind believe that Popes – who all through the history of the Roman Catholic Church have been involved in all manner of sin, wickedness, corruption and debauchery – were incapable of making a mistake when they make pronouncements on matters of faith and morals.
A path has effectively been laid by this “doctrine of demons (1 Timothy 4:1 [KJV]),” which directs people away from Jesus into the arms of the queen of heaven. This authority will be a powerful tool in the hands of the Antichrist in the final stages of the development of the apostate church, as Roman Church will opens its ecumenical arms to embrace all religions and form a one-world religion.
Roman Decretalia is an authoritative work in Roman ecclesiastical law. Each Pope, when invested with the “succession,” declares the papal decretals to be true. “He (the Pope) can pronounce sentence and judgements in contradiction to the rights of nations, to the law of God and man… He can free himself from the commands of the apostles, he being their superior, and from the rule of the Old Testament” (de Transcat. Eriscop, cap).
“The Pope has power to change times, to abrogate laws, and to dispense with all things even the precepts of Christ” (de Transcat. Eriscop, cap). Notice the wording of this quote matches a prophecy in Daniel that points to the authority of the Antichrist. Daniel 7 refers to the Antichrist as a little horn (A horn in the Bible is often a symbol of strength and authority [Psalm 89:24; 132:17]). This little horn will blaspheme God and persecute God’s people during the Tribulation, right up until the second coming of the Lord Jesus. Daniel 7:25 prophecies that this evil king pictured as the little horn, “will speak against the Most High and oppress his holy people.” Then verse 25 goes on to say that he will seek to change times and laws, and that he will exert oppressive power over God’s people for three and a half years. This detailed prophecy points directly at the authority that is held by the Roman Catholic Pope:
“The Pope will stand for reason, he can dispense above the law: and of wrong make right, by correcting and changing laws” (Pope Nicholas, Dist. 96, quoted in “facts for the times”, pp 55, 1893).
One of the infallible declarations made by the Popes is “Unam Sanctum,” meaning that the salvation of every single person is dependent on total obedience to the Pope and the traditions of the Roman Catholic Church. As “The Pope enjoys, by divine institution, supreme, full, immediate, and universal power in the care of souls” (Catechism, paragraph 937), “Unam Sanctum” demands total submission to the Pope before a person is able to earn salvation.
The debased men of the history of the Roman Catholic Church who have held the position of Pope and claimed the title of “Vicar of Christ,” have been able to institute traditions that contradict scripture, then force people to follow them through the threat of the loss of their eternal salvation through the Papal Bull (law) of “Unam Sanctum” – the hypocrisy is astounding.
The Roman Catholic stance regarding the well-documented immorality of their Popes is that no matter how sinful the Pope is, he remains the head of the Roman Church and thereby requires submission and obedience from all Roman Catholics.
With the claim that the Pope is superior to all leaders and authorities, it becomes inevitable that the Pope would lay claim to all territories on earth. Temporal power gives Popes political and governmental power and authority, along with their claim to complete spiritual and pastoral power as the head of the Catholic Church.
Pope Boniface VIII (1294-1303) aggressively supported papal authority, stating that “the Roman Pontiff judges all men, but is judged by no one. We declare, assert and pronounce: To be subject to the Roman Pontiff is to every human creature altogether necessary for salvation (The Bull Sanctum, Nov 18, 1302)…” Boniface VIII was more concerned about ruling with power and authority than he was about ensuring the lost received salvation.
Thomas Aquinas, the much revered “Angelic Doctor” and “saint” of the Roman Catholic Church wrote in his Summa Theologica in 1272, “The Pope, by Divine Right, hath Spiritual and Temporal Power, as Supreme King of the World.” Then In 1494, Pope Alexander VI was required to intercede in a possible conflict between Spain and Portugal. These two Roman Catholic countries were the two dominant European powers at that time, and their colonial aspirations were bound to conflict. To ensure that a clash between the two Roman Catholic superpowers did not happen, Pope Alexander VI, under his claim to have temporal power over all territories on earth, was able to divide the New World between Spain and Portugal.
If the Temporal Power of the Pope only extends to the Vatican City, as many Roman Catholics would have you believe, then the Pope should have disbanded the Jesuits. The Jesuits are kept by the Pope because they are the tool that works to bring about papal authority over all of mankind, and temporal power over all the territories of the world.
“We define that the Holy Apostolic See (A title given to Rome since the first Christian centuries. It applies to the Pope and the persons and offices directly under his authority. It implies that, as successor of St. Peter, the Prince of the Apostles, he has the primary duty of extending the Christian faith to all the world), and the Roman Pontiff holds primacy over the whole world” (The Most Holy Councils vol 13 col. 1167).
The Pope is “God on earth”
The word “anti” in antichrist means both against Christ and “IN PLACE OF” Christ. Now look at the following quote from Pope John Paul II: “The leader of the Catholic church is defined by the faith as the Vicar of Jesus Christ (and is accepted as such by believers). The Pope is considered the man on earth who takes the place of the Second Person of the omnipotent God of the Trinity” (John Paul II, Crossing the Threshold of Hope, p. 3 1994; emphasis added).
This belief was not only held by Pope John Paul, but by all Popes before him:
- Pope lea XIII (1878-1903): “We hold upon this earth the place of God Almighty.”
- Pope Pius XI (1922-1939): “You know that I am the Holy Father, the representative of God on earth, the Vicar of Christ, which means I am God on earth.”
Venerated as God:
The Pope is venerated as God by the Roman Catholic Church and requires priests to lie prostrate before him, and he is carried on men’s shoulders in the chair of Peter, in the same manner as the ark of the covenant (the presence of God on earth).
A One World Religion – Mystery Babylon
The first Ecumenical assembly was held in Amsterdam in 1948, where the motto “One World, One Church” was adopted. The ecumenical movement is aimed at establishing a one-world unified church, ecumenical being derived from the Greek “oikoumene” which means “the whole inhabited world.” There are two major ecumenical organisations, the World Council of Churches (WCC) and the National Council of Churches (NCC). Both have the aim of bringing together all Christian denominations, with the ultimate aim of uniting all world religions.
The Roman Catholic Church seized the opportunity brought about by the desire of Protestant churches to have unity, and at the Second Vatican Council (1962-64) a Decree on Ecumenism was issued by Pope Paul VI, which revealed the goal of the Roman Catholic Church to bring Protestants back into the fold of the mother church. A quote from Cardinal Ratzinger (later to become Pope Benedict) on the 9th of April 2000, affirms this ideology: “it must be clear, that the one, holy, Catholic Church is not the sister but the mother of all churches”.
The proclamation at Vatican II determined that Protestants were no longer “heretics,” but were in the future to be referred to as “separated brethren.” As the Roman Catholic Church sees itself as the true church, its ecumenical activity has the goal of bringing Protestant churches and other religions under the authority of the Pope. This is made clear in paragraph 4 of the Decree on Ecumenism which states “…when the obstacles to perfect ecclesiastical communion have been gradually overcome, all Christians will at last, in a common celebration of the Eucharist, be gathered into the one and only Church in that unity which Christ bestowed on His Church from the beginning. We believe that this unity subsists in the Catholic Church as something she can never lose…” The ecumenical deception of the Roman Catholic Church has worked, in an interview with Time Magazine (October 16, 1989), Arch bishop Runcie of the Church of England told them that he had given a special ring to Pope John Paul II, explaining that the ring was “an engagement ring” between him and the Pope as a promise of the future union between the Church of England and the Roman Catholic Church.
Then on October 31, 1999, representatives of the Lutherans and Roman Catholics met in Augsburg Germany, and signed a joint declaration on the subject of justification, so five hundred years of protesting which began with Martin Luther, the founder of the Lutheran church, came to an end. The Roman Catholic Church now says that as there is no longer a need to be a protester, so all Protestants should return to the Roman Church. The Roman Catholic Church is misusing the word Protestant in their explanation. The term Protestant is made up of two Latin words pro (for) and teste (a witness to the truth). So, a Protestant is a person who stands for the truth of the Word of God.
The definition of ecumenical, then, for the Pope and the Roman Catholic Church, is to bring all churches under the pagan traditions of the Roman Church. It is these traditions that the Reformation Fathers so protested against that they were willing to die rather than submit to the Roman Church’s vile practices.
The move to a one-world religion (Mystery Babylon Religion) is being led by the Roman Catholic Church:
A Warning of What is to Come
There is a time in the not-too-distant future when those Christians that reject the call to return to the Roman Catholic Church will be targeted for persecution: Pope John Paul II Law. 1436: “Whoever denies or places in doubt any truth that must be believed with divine Catholic faith, or repudiates the Christian faith as a whole, and does not come to his senses after having been legitimately warned, is to be punished as a heretic, or as an apostate by major communication; a member of the clergy, furthermore, can be punished by other penalties, not excluding deposition.” According to this statement by John Paul II, anyone who does not obey the Pope must be treated as a heretic.
On studying the history of the persecution of the early Church, we are able to perceive how the above doctrine may be implemented. The Romans were very open about worship within the Empire. When a nation was conquered by the Romans, the idols of their gods were taken to the Pantheon in Rome and became part of the gods worshipped in the Empire. When the Emperor was recognised as a “god” all faiths were required to worship the Emperor; Pergamum being the first Roman city to build a temple of worship for an Emperor – Augustine in 29BC. There became two distinctions in the Empire – legal religions (Religio Licita) and illegal religions (Religio Illicita). Those faiths that included Emperor worship were legal, and those that did not were illegal. The early Church did not worship the Emperor, and so were classed as illegal, and targeted for persecution. In the last days, Christians will have to be Roman Catholics, while non-Christians will be able to follow their own religion, as long as they also recognise Roman Catholicism as the Mother of all faiths and the Pope as its head.
The separation of legal and illegal faiths has already begun in part. Pope Francis at his General Audience 25 June 2014 stated that, “There is no ‘do-it-yourself’ in the church, no freelancers… there are those that believe you can have a personal, direct and immediate relationship with Jesus Christ outside of the communion and mediation of the Church. These temptations are dangerous and harmful. They are in the words of the great Pope Paul VI, “absurd dichotomies… Remember, being a Christian means belonging to the (Catholic) church. First name: Christian, Last name: Church member.” The words “dangerous and harmful” were carefully chosen by Pope Francis, and are a warning that there will be laws that will follow that statement, that will make it illegal to practice Christianity outside of the Catholic Church!
There can be no more blasphemous designation on earth than “Pope,” which holds claim to the titles of all three members of the Godhead. Under the title of “Pontifex Maximus,” the Pope becomes the king and high priest, usurping the position held solely for the Messiah, Yeshua, which He will claim on His return at the end of the age. As “the Vicar of Christ,” the Pope takes the place of the Holy Spirit, who at Pentecost came down to represent Jesus on earth. Then our heavenly “Abba” Father is replaced by the Pope, the “The Holy Father” of all mankind.
Furthermore, the Pope lays claims to be the successor to Peter, which places him in a position above all men of God. As Bishop of bishops, he alone then – according to the Roman Catholic Church – is able to speak on behalf of God, and as the supreme pastor and teacher, he must therefore be infallible. The Pope, being in possession of the keys to heaven and hell, thus determines that salvation can only be attained through obedience to the traditions of the Roman Catholic Church.
Holding all this power and authority as the head shepherd, he is above kings and political rulers and therefore has temporal power through divine appointment to rule over all territories of the earth.
One must ask the question: does Jesus truly want one fallible man, with the sinful nature of Adam, to hold so much power, influence, and authority over His Church? A study of the book of Acts and the early Church would bring a clear and emphatic NO as the answer. The position of the Pope, which holds so many declarations of supremacy, however, is tailormade for the Antichrist.
No other religious or political position comes close to matching the authority the Roman Catholic Church has bestowed on its Pope. The position of Pope awaits a man who, in rebellion against God’s will, one day in the not-too-distant future, rise up to claim and use the title of Pope, and become the beast “covered with blasphemous names.”
The conflict between God and the leader of the Whore of Babylon is predicted by God in the Garden of Eden – The seed of Satan (the Antichrist) will be at enmity with the seed of the woman (Jesus). How this conflict will play out is revealed in type through the narrative of Moses and Pharaoh. Initially, it is Pharaoh who hardens his heart to Moses’ call to release the Jews, but scripture records that the last plagues are brought about because God hardened Pharaoh’s heart. So it will be in the last days, mankind has had nearly 2000 years to repent and accept Jesus as Lord, but he has hardened his heart. Because of mankind’s rebelliousness, God will harden his heart even more, and give mankind what he desires – the opposite of Jesus – a counterfeit messiah that John calls the Antichrist. Paul warns of God’s judgement in 2 Thessalonians 2:8-12 writing:
“And then the lawless one (Antichrist) will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendour of his coming. The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness” (emphasis added).
God’s patience with mankind is fast running out, and soon He will hand mankind over to a reprobate mind (Romans 1:28). Just a Nebuchadnezzar was mentally deranged because of pride for seven years, so mankind because of his rebellious pride will be given corrupted minds for seven years (the Tribulation). Minds that will believe that man’s wisdom is superior to God’s.
